It’s a matter of Principle

Every now and then I get cleaned up for special occasions like weddings, free cookie Wednesdays and gallery openings.  Having not one but two of my paintings on display at the Principle Gallery in Alexandria, VA was one of those special occasions.  In previous posts I mentioned my joy about the being juried into the “Urban Aspect” show.  Anyone that knows me, knows just how much I like to avoid openings but this time it was much easier as I had my friend and fellow artist Robert Caldwell to accompany me.  I’ve been a big fan of Robert’s work since we were in undergrad together and it meant a lot to me to have him there at the opening.

The evening started off far better than I could have possibly have expected as I was greeted almost immediately by the gallery assistant, Pamela.  Shortly after I found out that one of the two pieces was recently sold (Urban Tree).  All in all it was a crazy, busy and wonderful night.  Thank you to the entire Principle Gallery staff…Michele, Clint, Jessica and Pamela!

The following days were just as busy with a few painting demonstrations and a painting workshop just down the road in Millwood, VA at the Mill at Carter Hall.  I consider Millwood to be my home away from home.  If you haven’t been there before it’s a beautiful area near Winchester, VA. The folks are nice and all of my students are eager and willing to learn.

Next on my plate is finishing the works for my show titled “Simply Louisville” (Nov. 15-Dec. 17) at the B. Deemer gallery in Louisville, KY.
